The Thanksgiving Play
by Larissa FastHorse
This play won Outstanding Debut Performance from Theatre World with its Broadway premiere in 2023 and we’re thrilled to bring it to Helena. We hope thoughts of it will enliven your Thanksgiving this fall.
Our production is directed by Haley McKnight and features a lively and hilarious cast.
This comic story features a troupe of white theatremakers attempting to devise a “polictically correct” play on the origins of Thanksgiving. Native author Larissa FastHorse wants to give up permission to laugh at the ways we tell our stories, while reminding us that the stories really do matter.
Special event! In conjunction with the play, we want to open up a conversation about the question of Native representation. Quincy Bjornberg, from the Helena Indian Alliance has graciously agreed to lead a discussion at 4pm Sunday 14th, after the 2pm show. Admission is free, you do not need to attend the play beforehand.
